Over the last few weeks we have seen the Dean Trust Active Challenge, Dean Trust Games and Rose Bridge Sports Day take place – we have some unbelievably talented sports stars here who you can read about in this week’s newsletter.

It has been an eventful week at DTRB. It was wonderful to welcome over 120 Year 6 pupils into the school for their Transition Day. Pupils experienced a wide variety of activities to support the start of their secondary journey in September.

It was a pleasure this week for me to be able to interview a group of year 10 pupils who have applied to be part of our Year 11 Prefect Team for September 2024. All pupils performed brilliantly, with some coming pre prepared with notes and prompt cards to help them. I am delighted to announce we have appointed a new Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy, as well as a number of Senior Prefects and Prefects.

At DRTB this year we are striving to involve the local community more in what we do, as well as trying to form and strengthen links with companies and businesses in the local area. We are very proud of our new reading programme which you can see more of in this newsletter today where our pupils are going out promoting reading in the wider community.

We have reached the end of another half term at Dean Trust Rose Bridge and today we have celebrated the attendance of those pupils who consistently get it right. Attendance is intrinsically linked to progress and attainment – well done in particular to all of those Years 11 pupils who have reached the mid point of their GCSEs and have been revising maths all morning for their exam first Monday back.

Another very busy week at Rose Bridge – I am delighted to say first of all that this week we had a record attendance in Year 11 with 99.3% on the day of the Maths exam. Well done to all of these pupils who are really getting their heads down and taking their examinations very seriously.

Today saw our first major examination for Year 11 and I am delighted to say Yr11 attendance was almost 96% – the highest it has ever been. Well done to all of you and we hope to maintain this attendance for all of the examination period. The normal timetable is now suspended for the next four weeks with pupils being involved in bespoke ‘booster’ revision sessions for different subjects when not in the exam hall.

Today we have been lucky enough to have the team from ‘My Perfect University’with us carrying out a full day workshop with all of our Year 10 cohort, with pupils designing what their perfect university would look like.

We have had a very busy first week back in school this week, much of which in this this week’s newsletter. We were delighted that Kathryn Burns, runner up on last year’s ‘The Apprentice’ came to deliver a workshop to a group of Year 10 pupils where they pitched her business ideas to her. We definitely have some future entrepreneurs here at DTRB!

You will be aware that we have been without a Performing Arts Theatre, Dance Studio and main changeover corridor since the beginning of the year due to the discovery of RAAC concrete. I am delighted however now to announce that after months of structural works we will gain all of these spaces back after the Easter holidays and the school will be fully operational again.
